There’s something special about Walt Disney World after the sun goes down. The Florida heat starts to fade, the parks begin to glow, and some attractions become even more magical than they are during the day.
If you’re planning a full park day, don’t make the mistake of heading back to your resort too early. Some of Disney World’s best rides are worth saving until nighttime.
Here are 10 attractions that are even better after dark.
1. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (Magic Kingdom)

Big Thunder Mountain is fun anytime, but it feels completely different after sunset.
Racing through the mountain in the dark with the lights of Frontierland surrounding you makes the ride feel faster and more exciting. If you time it just right, you may even catch fireworks lighting up the sky during your ride.
Why it’s better at night: Cooler temperatures, beautiful lighting, and incredible views.
2. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (Magic Kingdom)
Fantasyland becomes one of the prettiest areas in Magic Kingdom after dark.
The lanterns around the mine glow beautifully, and the ride feels even more magical as you race through the curves beneath the stars.
Why it’s better at night: The atmosphere is completely transformed once the sun goes down.
3. Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (Magic Kingdom)
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure feels like it was designed for nighttime.
The glowing lanterns, colorful bayou scenes, and evening lighting make the entire attraction even more immersive.
If you don’t mind getting a little wet, nighttime is my favorite time to ride.
Why it’s better at night: The beautiful lighting makes every scene feel more realistic.
4. TRON Lightcycle / Run (Magic Kingdom)
If you’re only riding TRON once, make it after dark.
The illuminated canopy outside the attraction is one of the most beautiful sights in Magic Kingdom at night. Racing underneath thousands of glowing lights feels like stepping into the Grid.
This is one attraction that truly lives up to the hype.
Why it’s better at night: The entire experience is built around nighttime lighting.
5. Expedition Everest (Animal Kingdom)
Animal Kingdom has a completely different feel in the evening.
The mountain disappears into the darkness, making every backward drop and twist feel even more thrilling.
If you’re staying until park close, this should definitely be on your list.
Why it’s better at night: Darker surroundings make the ride feel even more intense.

6. Test Track (EPCOT)
When Test Track reopens, be sure to ride it after sunset.
The outdoor speed loop feels even faster at night, and you’ll enjoy beautiful views across EPCOT illuminated after dark.
Why it’s better at night: The lighting adds excitement to the outdoor portion of the ride.
7. Slinky Dog Dash (Hollywood Studios)
Toy Story Land completely transforms after sunset.
Oversized holiday lights illuminate the land, creating one of the most colorful nighttime experiences in Walt Disney World.
Even if you’ve ridden Slinky Dog during the day, it’s worth riding again at night.
Why it’s better at night: Toy Story Land truly comes alive with colorful lighting.

8. Avatar Flight of Passage (Animal Kingdom)
Before you even board the attraction, take a few minutes to explore Pandora after dark.
The bioluminescent plants, glowing pathways, and floating mountains make this one of the most beautiful lands in all of Walt Disney World.
It’s easily one of my favorite nighttime experiences.
Why it’s better at night: Pandora’s lighting is unlike anything else at Disney World.
9. Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover (Magic Kingdom)
The PeopleMover might be one of Disney World’s most underrated attractions.
After dark, you’ll glide high above Tomorrowland while enjoying incredible views of Space Mountain, TRON, Astro Orbiter, and the glowing lights throughout the land.
It’s relaxing, rarely has a long wait, and gives you one of the best nighttime views in Magic Kingdom.
Why it’s better at night: You get amazing views of Tomorrowland illuminated after sunset.
10. Space Mountain (Magic Kingdom)
While Space Mountain is always indoors, the experience of walking through Tomorrowland at night makes the attraction even more memorable.
The glowing lights, futuristic music, and cooler evening air create the perfect atmosphere before blasting off into space.
Try riding during the final hour before park closing when waits often become shorter.
Why it’s better at night: Tomorrowland feels its most immersive after sunset.
Don’t Leave the Parks Too Early
One of the biggest mistakes first-time visitors make is leaving the parks after dinner.
Nighttime is when Walt Disney World feels its most magical. The crowds begin to thin, temperatures become more comfortable, and many attractions feel like completely different experiences once the lights come on.
If you have the chance, stay until park close at least once during your trip. You may discover that your favorite Disney memories happen long after the sun goes down.
