  • Best Beginner Travel Cards for Disney Families

Travel Perks That Actually Make Family Vacations Easier

Disney vacations are some of my favorite family memories, but between flights, hotels, park tickets, and food, travel costs can add up quickly. One of the best ways we’ve made travel feel easier and more affordable over time is by using beginner-friendly travel rewards credit cards.

You do not need to be a points expert or hardcore travel hacker to benefit from travel rewards. The right travel cards can help Disney families earn points for flights, hotels, airport perks, and everyday purchases that can eventually help offset vacation costs.

These are some of my favorite beginner-friendly travel cards for Disney families and why they work so well for family travel.

This post may contain affiliate links, which means I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. I only share products and travel tools I personally use and love.

    1. Capital One Venture X

The Capital One Venture X is one of my favorite travel cards for making family travel feel more comfortable and less stressful.

Some of my favorite benefits include:

    • airport lounge access
    • travel credits

    • travel protections
    • earning miles on everyday spending

This card works especially well for:

    • Disney vacations
    • airport travel with kids
    • long travel days
    • family flights
    • comfortable travel experiences

Airport lounge access can make a huge difference when traveling with family, especially during delays or early morning flights.

    3. American Express Gold Card

The American Express Gold is especially helpful for families who spend a lot on groceries and dining throughout the year.

Many Disney families naturally spend heavily in these categories, making it easier to build points over time.

    • grocery rewards
    • restaurant rewards

    • dining perks
    • strong everyday earning categories

This card pairs really well with other travel cards when planning family vacations and Disney trips.

    4. Marriott Bonvoy Card for Swan & Dolphin Stays

One of my favorite hotel strategies for Disney travel is using Marriott points for stays at the Swan and Dolphin hotels near Disney property.

The Marriott Bonvoy Boundless can help families:

    • earn hotel points
    • offset Disney-area hotel costs
    • enjoy Marriott travel perks
    • build rewards through everyday spending

The Swan and Dolphin hotels are incredibly popular with Disney travelers because they offer:

    • walking access to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios
    • Disney-area convenience

    • beautiful Disney-adjacent resorts

For Disney families who stay there often, Marriott points can become incredibly valuable over time.

    • special Disney financing offers
    • cardmember Disney perks
    • Disney vacation flexibility

This card works especially well for:

    • frequent Disney travelers
    • Disney shopping
    • Disney dining
    • families who want easy Disney rewards

While it may not always earn the highest travel rewards overall, many Disney families love the Disney-specific perks and simplicity.

    Reward for Yacht Club Resort

Why Travel Rewards Can Help Disney Families

Travel rewards can help offset many vacation expenses, including:

    • flights
    • hotels
    • airport expenses
    • rental cars
    • travel purchases

And beyond saving money, some perks simply make travel easier:

    • airport lounge access
    • travel protections
    • flexible points
    • hotel rewards
    • travel credits

For families who already travel regularly or visit Disney often, earning rewards through normal spending can become a great long-term travel strategy.

Beginner Tips Before Applying for Travel Cards

If you are new to travel rewards, here are a few beginner-friendly tips:

    • start with one card at a time
    • choose cards that match your spending habits
    • pay balances in full whenever possible
    • focus on travel goals you already have planned
    • keep travel rewards simple and manageable

The best travel rewards strategy is one that supports your normal lifestyle and family travel habits.

    Final Thoughts

Travel rewards cards can be a great tool for Disney families looking to make vacations feel more affordable, comfortable, and enjoyable over time. You do not need complicated travel strategies to start benefiting from points, perks, and travel rewards.

Whether you are planning Disney vacations, airport travel days, Swan & Dolphin stays, or future family adventures, the right beginner-friendly travel card can help make the journey feel a little easier.

  • Baby’s First Disney Trip

    Baby’s First Disney Trip 11/14/2021

Taking baby on their first trip is filled with a lot of emotions. Did we pack everything? Did we overpack? Did I pack enough clothes for a day trip? So many questions and overthinking. For someone so tiny, they sure have a lot of stuff. Luckily, I have a few strategies to help anyone along this exciting milestone in family life.

    Pack the Basics

The best thing about Disney is the baby care center. If you happened to forget something or didn’t pack enough they will have it. If you are an annual passholder you can use your discount there too. Below is our basic list for our day trip. I am a list person and it helps me stay organized.

    • Stroller
    • Diaper bag
    • Diapers ( a diaper per hour is the rule of thumb)
    • Diaper rash cream
    • A trash bag or wet bag for those dirty diapers
    • Hand sanitizers
    • Baby wipes
    • Sunscreen
    • Baby carrier (Mila loves breaks out of her stroller)
    • Food for baby ( breastmilk, formula, bottles, however you feed them make sure to have extra for your days worth)
    • Breastpump for car trip
    • Clothes (You know your baby best. We brought 4 outfits)
    • Toys
    • Water
    • Diaper changing pad
    • Blankets

    Day in the Park

    Entering the Park

It was a perfect sunny day and the best Florida weather you could ask for in November. Since Mila was still so little and Covid was still around we didn’t do any rides. We checked out the animals around the park and checked out the holiday snacks. If you are looking for a chill Disney day, and like animals; this is the place to be for your little one.

Best napping place on the trip

Mila spent the majority of the time in her stroller, but when she wanted a break and just to see what is going on, the baby carrier came in handy. It was her first time in this carrier and she loved it. It is a great tool to have if you like being hands free while carrying your baby.

    Chef Art Smith’s Homecoming

    Eating with baby

Again that baby carrier came in handy. With all the excitement around Mila, wanted to see what was going on. If you are looking for an amazing meal with at home cook feeling, head to Chef Art Smith’s Homecoming. (Reservations recommended) I have lost count on how many times we have frequented this Disney Spring restaurant, but it is our go-to for a delicious sit-down meal. Again, if you have that annual pass holder card you can utilize that discount. This restaurant was so accommodating with a stroller and all the wait staff enjoyed seeing Mila.

    Braised Short Ribs $37.00
    Harvest Salad $19.00

    Some takeaways from the trip

We took our time getting there and at the park. We didn’t rush which meant we didn’t stress. This trip wasn’t about getting the perfect Disney experience, it was about enjoying our time together. We stopped a lot and took in every moment. Mila is a great traveler and being used to car trips really helped us. We did our best staying on her schedule for feedings and naps. Overall, strolling through animal kingdom was a memory I know we will never forget. This was the perfect park to take Mila on her first of many Disney trips.

As a new mama, it was very important to me to create memories that will last a lifetime and help my baby see the beauty of all cultures and sites. It is tough navigating through a pandemic, so to avoid any boredom at home we will also share our Amazon must haves to keep the littles busy.

    Meet Dada travel companion
